5.1 DTS SYSTEM
Once I decided to get a system in the Blazer I did my homework
and had fun with it. First thing was to install sound proofing. I decided
on FatMat eXtreme and took a week off work to do the install.
I had the Clarion VRX925VD head unit for a while and decided
to take it a step higher by adding a DVH920 5.1 decoder.
For the 5.1 system I installed JL Audio XR650-CXi speakers up front and a JL
Audio 13W7 Sub in back. The sub is powered by a JL 1000/1.
The front seat speakers are powered by a JL 450/4 and the rear seat
speakers have a JL 300/2. That gives each of the surround speakers 150 Watts.
Here
is the front center channel speaker. It's fiberglassed in and carpeted
.
The
box looks huge because there is actually 3 boxes there. One for the sub,
one for the amps, and one with wiring and caps. The three are tied together
with a top plate and carpeted. I also added an Optima battery with Tsunami
topper.
A few
neons were added to light it up.
Here's
the caps. Hidden by the back seats on the front of the box. They are
inset and have a plexiglass cover, like the amps.
Some updated photos. I made myself a custom etched, edge lit. Amp Cover
